FreeWill Labs started with a simple observation: the best parts of a family adventure are rarely the perfectly planned ones.
They are the small moments: a kid noticing something you walked right past, a detour that turns into the story everyone retells later, a quiet view, a funny photo, a wildlife sighting, or the relief of finally having the trip details in one place.
That is the space we are building in.
FreeWill Labs is creating family-first apps for real trips, local outings, outdoor memories, and the everyday logistics that come with making family adventures happen.
Right now, our work is centered on three products: Adventure Quest, Family Trip OS, and PaddlePin.
Adventure Quest
Adventure Quest turns real places into playful photo quests for families and small groups.
The idea is simple: pick a collection, follow open-ended discovery prompts, capture what you find, and save the experience as a memory. It works for city sightseeing, cruise days, local parks, beaches, national parks, and family travel days.
Adventure Quest is built for families who want kids to engage more deeply with the places they visit. Instead of just walking through a park, waiting through a sightseeing day, or filling time on a cruise, kids get a role: they become explorers.
Current Adventure Quest collections include city, cruise, park, nature, and local outing experiences. The collection library is growing around the way families actually travel: one outing, one port, one city walk, one scenic stop, or one weekend adventure at a time.

Family Trip OS
Family Trip OS is being built around a different family travel problem: the mental load of the trip.
Every family has someone who becomes the default trip manager. That person knows where the tickets are, what time check-in is, which confirmation email matters, what the plan is today, what still needs to be packed, and what the family is supposed to do next.
Family Trip OS is designed to become a calm, useful home base for that person.
The product focuses on trip details, daily plans, travel documents, confirmations, and the "what matters right now?" layer that families need during real travel.
The long-term vision is a family trip command center that reduces the scattered feeling of travel without turning the trip into another project.
Family Trip OS is currently in TestFlight and continues to be shaped by real family travel.
PaddlePin
PaddlePin is our newest field-test product.
It started from a specific outdoor need: paddleboarding is not just about distance or speed. Sometimes the best part of a paddle is the route you found, the calm water you discovered, the wildlife you saw, or the moment you want to remember later.
On one paddle at Oleta, the most memorable moment was seeing a sea turtle swim between us. That was the story of the outing. Not the pace. Not the mileage. The turtle.
But as we get better at paddleboarding, the workout and route matter too.
PaddlePin is being built around that balance: route tracking, workout credit, pins for memorable moments, and a shareable paddle recap that helps each outing count as both movement and memory.
The throughline
Adventure Quest, Family Trip OS, and PaddlePin may look different, but they are built around the same belief:
Technology should help families experience more of the real world, not pull them away from it.
Adventure Quest helps kids engage with the places they visit.
Family Trip OS helps the family trip manager carry less mental load.
PaddlePin helps outdoor moments become both fitness progress and personal memories.
Together, these products represent the FreeWill Labs mission: practical, family-first tools for real adventures, real trips, and real memories.
What's next
The next phase is about real use.
For Adventure Quest, that means improving the premium adventure marketplace and learning which collections families are most excited to try.
For Family Trip OS, that means continued TestFlight validation and moving toward a public App Store version.
For PaddlePin, that means more field testing on the water and refining the balance between workout tracking, route mapping, and memory capture.
FreeWill Labs is not building for perfect travel moments.
We are building for real ones.
